J. Burton and Rich Black are third-generation Petroleum Marketers! Their Grandpa (Paul James "P.J.") started the business in the mid-1930's. Their Dad & Uncles bought out the business from Grandpa Black in 1957, under Black Oil Company (a partnership). Their Dad (Gordon James "Jim") bought out their Uncles in the early 1960's and in 1963 Black Oil was incorporated under the laws of the State of Utah. Jim died in a tragic car wreck in 1979, and his wife Roberta took over ownership of the business. An Uncle, Paul Dean Black, came back to manage the business for a while. He resigned, leaving management to Leon Behunin. In 1986, Burton came to work under Leon, and when Leon retired circa 1990, Burton became the new General Manager. Roberta died in 1993 after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer. A big "Thank you" is extended to Uncle Paul, Leon, and our many long-time, and new, faithful employees!
